The Cognitolite photobiomodulation device which was recently mentioned on UK national media https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cdl8n2edgrgt/dementia is now available for purchase from Quietmind Foundation. We are making the Cognitolite available as part of an open-label, uncontrolled clinical research study program to extend our knowledge of its effects on brain health and improvement of both cognitive, behavioral and movement functioning.
This is the unit that was used in the recent trial by Quietmind Foundation and Baylor Research Institute (see: Transcranial Infrared Light Therapy for Dementia clinical trial (download .pdf report below). In this study the device was provided at no cost for subjects as part of a two-month, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial. The study results showed that twice daily, 6-minute stimulation sessions conducted by participants at home over 2 months, produced significant improvements in short and long-term memory, executive functions, mood, movement, and social engagement.
Those determined to be appropriate and seeking longer term use of the Cognitolite will be permitted to enroll in a 2-year, single-subject clinical trial that includes an equipment fee of $15,000 and combines 1070nm photobiomodulation with customized home-based EEG biofeedback training.
We are currently providing a limited number of Cognitolite units on a monthly trial basis for an $800/month donation to the QMF research fund. All funds donated will be deducted from the $10,000, longer-term clinical trial equipment fee.
