FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Quietmind Foundation, a non-profit research and educational organization in Lafayette Hill, PA, is excited to announce that Jon Frederick, Ph.D. has joined the staff as Director of Clinical Research. He will be coordinating the current research on the efficacy of EEG biofeedback on the symptoms of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Dr. Frederick earned his doctorate in psychology in Joel with leading researcher Joel Lubar at the University of Tennessee, studying the effects of audiovisual stimulation (light and sound machines) on the EEG. He received his Masters degree in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, where he specialized in psychopharmacology. Dr. Frederick has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center-Houston and the University of Minnesota, researching topics from structural MRI in autism and spina bifida to evoked potentials in ADHD and substance abuse. He has authored or co-authored 35 scientific publications and conference presentations. In addition to his research for QMF, he teaches biopsychology and research methods online for the University of Houston. Over the coming weeks, Dr. Frederick will meeting with representatives of the local clinical, research and family support organizations related to helping people with dementia to solicit their participation in the study. Subjects will be receiving neuropsychological testing and several forms of biofeedback training in the hope of improving their cognitive and behavioral symptoms.
