INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD

Quietmind Foundation Institutional Review Board and Research Facilitation Service

The QMF has created both an independent Institutional Review Board and a Research Facilitation Service in response to the growing need for quality research in the field of complementary/alternative (CAM) health care with an emphasis on EEG biofeedback theory and methods. Because many potential researchers in this field are primarily practitioners in the community, they may not have access to a supportive university-based IRB or may want to access a wider group of participants. They may also desire expert assistance at various points in the research process.

The QMF IRB panel will include technical experts in the field of the proposed research along with research design specialists, statisticians and members of the community all of whom will evaluate each study's ethical and subject safety parameters. Every IRB review panel will be selected to best address the conceptual and methodological needs of the researcher(s) subject population and protocol.

The Facilitation Service will provide technical assistance to actively guide research in the complementary/alternative field, with special focus on the uses of self regulation technologies including EEG, HEG, LENS, Roshi, NeuroCare, AVE, etc.

Our mission is to support the recognition and incorporation of EEG biofeedback technology and other CAM methods by facilitating the dissemination of the highest-quality research into the appropriate peer-reviewed journals.
